Caddis flies at Holt Hall
Tutor: Tony Irwin In this workshop, preserved specimens will be used to introduce the principles and pitfalls of identifying adult caddis flies. It is suitable for those who regularly catch caddis, either through general collecting or by light-trapping. Microscopes will be available but bring your own if preferred. SEASHORE WILDLIFE - NT Workshop
The chalk reefs at Sheringham are one of the UK’s marine biodiversity hot-spots. We will start with a classroom session focusing on the crustaceans, molluscs and fish that can be found around the Norfolk coast. Microscope event - something different - and free!
Holt Hall from10 am to 1 pm but drop in when you wish. Followed by an informal user session. Richard Campey of OneStop Nature Shop at Burnham Deepdale will demonstrate a wide range of microscopes and related equipment suitable for amateur naturalists. Followed by an optional informal self-help workshop on techniques with the compound (high power) microscope, mainly for fungus folk but for anyone interested. NNNS Workshop: Heath & dune lichens

Intended for the beginner, this workshop will cover collecting and the basics of identifying these attractive but little-studied, organisms. There should be an opportunity for some collecting in the field but the emphasis will on examination under stereo microscopes.

FERNS AND THEIR ALLIES - NT Workshop
Learn how to tell Lady-ferns from Male-ferns and Hard-ferns from Soft Shield-ferns with local expert Bob Ellis and National Trust Ranger Mary Ghullam. This workshop will introduce you to the unusual life-cycle of the fern and help you to identify different species, both through examining specimens in the classroom and through exploring the ferns growing in Sheringham Park.
